THE FALL 2013 Pre-K CLASS IS FULL . FALL 2013 THREE YEAR OLD PROGRAM IS NEARLY FULL! (updated 5/13)

May brings Memorial Day and Community Month to Rainbow Preschool. Both classes will be visited by a few community helpers & Pre-K students will be taking some community walking trips. PARENTS- please keep Calendars handy & check mail for schedule changes throughout this month. We already had a 'special delivery' from Jackie at Bob's Bait (she brought us worms!) & have visited the Elelmentary School Cafeteria. Pre-K also took a school bus ride and made pizzas at Rocco's.

It is tradition for Rainbow School to decorate a float, ride in the Corinth Memorial Day Parade, and recite a poem for the parade judges. Please practice this poem at home :

RED is for the courage, of those who've fought to keep us free.

WHITE for trying to be good, white's for purity.

BLUE is for the truth that we look for every day.

RED WHITE BLUE: Our Nation's flag, God Bless the USA!

Looking ahead to the end of the school year: The last day for Early Learners is Thursday 6/6. For the last day of school we ask that each family bring a perennial to plant in the 'Early Learners Garden.' Parents are invited to join us for a Family Garden Party that morning. We will grill hot dogs, share some of our favorite songs & stories, & you can help your child plant their flower in the garden. We will place a garden marker with your child's name on it next to the plant. When your child returns to school next year as a Pre-K student he/she will be able to watch it grow! (more details to follow!)

PLEASE REMEMBER:

  • Students should have:  hats, scarves, gloves or mittens, snowboots and snow pants every day during winter for school. We expect to be outside each day for at least 15 minutes year round . Please keep in mind the playground can get muddy in springtime. Children should be dressed in play clothes and practical footgear, year round. Send your child to school in items that you/they do not mind getting dirty! Always label all your schoolchildren's belongings. We do have over 40 students here at the pre-school. It is not possible for teachers to keep track of everyone's belongings.
  • read your Family Handbook to familiarize yourself with Rainbow School, our educational philosophy and all our policies.
  • Pack a healthful lunch for your pre-K student on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. 5 day Pre-K students should eat lunch before arrival on Tuesday & Thursday.

About Rainbow Preschool

The Rainbow School offers a child-centered approach where social development and academic preparation are emphasized for early childhood. Through enriching activities, we provide a well roudned environment where students are encouraged to take risks in their learning, gain independence, and assume responsibility for themselves at work and play.  Using  literature, fine and gross motor challenges, music, field trips, creative experimentation, art, and more, all our children have the opportunity to discover and explore!

The Rainbow School maintains a 30+ year commitment to structured inquiry and play as an ideal vehicle for early learning. Our engaging curriculum exceeds  Kindergarten Readiness Standards of New York State. The program provides for the development of each child through social, physical, cultural, academic, and spiritual support, targeting all areas of intelligence and early childhood development.

And as always, we  pledge to provide your child with at least 15 minutes of outdoor play each school day, except in the event of inclement weather!
